On July 2,2002 my son who was then 16 called me at work and begged me to let him have a puppy that a friend of his had(the friends mother was allergic to dogs and miserable). He had been asking me forever to let him have this pup and for whatever on this day I finally relented. I was greeted that evening on my arrival home by this skinny 3 month old wiggling, licking ball of energy and immediately fell in love. Before the week was out, she was sleeping in my bed while Tyler was out with his friends and by my side every minute I was home. Although she technically was his dog, she didn't know that and had adopted me as hers. On July 30,2002 after having his drivers license 6 days, my son was tragically killed in a car accident on his way home, only a 1/2 mile from our house. It was then that Tipsi really became mine. I spent many,many nights crying into that beautiful brindle coat and she would look at me as if to say, I understand I miss him too. Sadly four years later she was diagnosed with an incurable and inoperable tumor and we had to have her put to sleep. I held this magnificent animal in my arms as the vet gave her the shot and I just kept whispering into her ear, Go to Tyler baby go to Tyler. She looked at me with those beautiful brown eyes and took one last breath, licked me on the face and she was gone. I know in my heart that Tyler was calling her into heaven and that they are now romping and playing in the way that they never got to while they were seperated. And that gives me some peace about these tragic events.
