Agatha

PitBox from Manhattan

I decided to foster a dog mid last year, as it was my BIG wish to have a dog again, after so many years without a four-pawed soul. Manhattan apartments are small, but the railroad configuration allows a dog to run around quite freely....so, I heard of Agatha, a Pitbull Boxer Mix, which was supposed to be put down the same day. Instead of being killed, she ended up on my couch, scared as nothing I had ever seen. She was found a stray in the Bronx, had long toenails, was probably kept in a Kennel and then just abandoned. She was about 10 months old, not house trained, had no idea why people even bothered with leashes, made loud noises, drove cars...she was just generally unhappy with the world.
With time, love, discipline and long walks she grew more self-confident and is now a big joy for me, every day. She often falls off the couch because she is wagging so hard when she sees me come in the door, trips over trashbags, just because her head is turned backward while walking. People stop cell phone conversations when they see her to tell Agatha that she is as cute as a button with her forehead wrinkles, pull her skin, pet her head or hug her (not kidding!). She is the biggest clown I know and I am grateful every day that she found me and I found her.
The 1st Photo shows Agatha during a closet-clean-out session...wearing strawberry panties. Obviously she tries to look as serious as possible!
The others show her almost asleep, playing with friends and saying hello to a Gargoyle...
