Luke

Light Brown Brindle with a white chest. from Easthampton MA

There are so many stories about Luke. He's an amazing dog, with an amazing temperment. I swear he thinks all mammals are dogs, and doesn't understand when they want to play. I seen him let mice eat from his dish and drink from his water bowl. (I wasn't too thrilled, but he didn't care.)

So, we live next in an old farm house, and our landlords used to let people keep animals in the barn. Right after we brought Luke home from the shelter, someone started keeping two young cows in the barn. The cows had their own fenced off area and could come in and out of the barn as they pleased.

So after a few days I noticed that the cows came out greet us whenever we walked Luke. And ONLY when we walked Luke. No Luke - no cows. They'd be nose to nose with him at the fence. He'd give them kisses and even play bow at them. Once the cow even play bowed back!

But the absolute best was when Luke gave his tennis ball to the cows. It normally takes bribes to get a tennis ball back. But he took his ball right up to the fence, put it down and nosed it under the fence for the cow. The cow had no idea what to do with it, but we praised Luke for a hour after that.
