I had never imagined a non-herding dog could excel at the sport of disc, but there I sat, watching one of their flashy routines set to some hard rockin’ music and I naturally started head banging and pumping my fist as my eyes stayed glued to the screen.

Thera-Pits Therapy Dog Reading Program was started by Chris Hughes and his non-profit organization Rowdy To The Rescue based out of Ohio.

They currently provide Cleveland area public schools with opportunities for their students to interact with registered therapy dogs, most of whom happen to be pit bulls. The Unexpected Pit Bull did a little Q & A with Chris to find out more about this program that he hopes to take nationally in the future.

Stereotypes and prejudices against Pit Bulls or any other dogs don't take into account individual personalities and experiences those dogs have had. Many Pit Bulls live with children and are their best friends.

These videos were made with photographs submitted by families around the world who wanted to show how loving and wonderful their Pit Bull dogs. We wanted to combat the negative press against them and protest against breed specific laws that hurt innocent families.
